Sindh High Court Nullifies 54,000 Sindh Government’s Recruitments

The Sindh High Court has ruled that the Sindh government’s over 54,000 recruitments based on advertisements published in August 2023 are null and void.

During the proceedings, the Sindh High Court considered a petition filed by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, which contested the legitimacy of the appointments from Grades 1 to 15. Delivering its verdict, the court found the appointments, aligned with the advertisements from August 23, 2023, to be illegal.

The judgment further specified that future recruitments should not rely on walk-in interviews. It mandated that appointments for positions from Grades 1 to 4 and 5 to 15 should be made on a district basis, ensuring a more localized and presumably equitable hiring process.

Additionally, the court directed the Sindh government to adhere strictly to established recruitment laws when conducting future hiring processes.

This decision came after MQM challenged the transparency and procedural integrity of the 54,000 positions filled through walk-in interviews, leading to the court’s initial stay order on these recruitments.
