Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” box office run is projected to earn $84.5 million during its second North American weekend, topping the $82.4 million opening of “Oppenheimer.”
The Universal Pictures and Syncopy release collected an estimated $25.9 million on Friday, July 24. Industry estimates place its three-day weekend total at $84.5 million, according to TheWrap.
That result would mark a drop of about 32% from the film’s $123.5 million domestic debut. It would also take the movie’s 10-day North American total to an estimated $283.2 million.

The film was also expected to pass $500 million worldwide during its second weekend. It has yet to open in South Korea, China and Japan.

“The Odyssey” adapts Homer’s epic poem about Odysseus’s journey home after the Trojan War. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong’o.
Universal released the film in cinemas on July 17. Nolan shot the production entirely with IMAX film cameras, according to the film’s official website.
