ISLAMABAD: Pakistan fuel prices increased on July 24, with petrol rising by Rs4.40 per litre to Rs331.52 and high-speed diesel climbing by Rs3.62 to Rs378.66.

The previous petrol price stood at Rs327.12 per litre, while high-speed diesel cost Rs375.04, according to rates published under the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s daily pricing system.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said Ogra calculates daily rates through a seven-day average of international market prices. The mechanism aims to pass global price movements to consumers more quickly.

The federal government introduced daily fuel reviews after renewed Middle East hostilities increased volatility in international oil markets. Pakistan previously revised petroleum prices every two weeks.

Under the federal cabinet-approved framework, Ogra can announce daily ex-depot petrol and diesel prices without prior approval from the prime minister or the federal government.

Prices announced on Fridays will remain effective through Saturday and Sunday. Ogra has also published daily Platts reference prices since July 1, 2026.

The petroleum levy cannot exceed the limit approved by the federal cabinet. Any change to the levy rate requires the Finance Division’s approval.

For fiscal year 2026-27, Pakistan State Oil will exclusively import high-speed diesel. Other oil marketing companies may import petrol based on their market share.
