Trump’s rural approval fell to a net -12 in July, down 14 points from June, according to a Fox News poll.
The poll showed that 44% of rural voters approved of US President Donald Trump’s performance, while 56% disapproved.
Trump recorded 51% approval and 49% disapproval among the same group in June. That gave him a net approval rating of +2.
Economic issues produced his weakest ratings in the latest survey. Only 37% of rural voters approved of Trump’s handling of the economy, while 30% backed his response to inflation.
Trump performed better on immigration, with 48% of rural voters approving of his handling of the issue.
An earlier Fox News analysis placed Trump’s net approval among rural voters at +20 in early 2025. The latest figure represents a 32-point decline from that level.
A Brookings Institution analysis said Trump won 64% of the rural vote in the 2024 presidential election, compared with 34% for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
The latest decline comes before the November 2026 midterm elections. Rural turnout and voting margins could affect competitive congressional races in states including Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin.

White House spokesman Davis Ingle disputed the significance of the polling. He said the “ultimate poll” was the November 5, 2024, election and argued that Trump was implementing a popular agenda.
