ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the Kohat terrorist attack that killed two Excise and Customs personnel on July 24 and ordered authorities to prosecute those responsible.
Unidentified assailants attacked a Pakistan Customs enforcement squad at about 12:15 am near Kohat Toll Plaza in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The squad was performing routine anti-smuggling duties on the main highway.
The attack killed Assistant Sub-Inspector Sajid ul Islam of the Excise Department and Pakistan Customs Sepoy Jawad Ahmed.
Another Customs sepoy sustained injuries and received medical treatment, according to the Press Information Department.
The assailants also set the squad’s official vehicle ablaze before fleeing. Law enforcement agencies launched a search and investigation to identify and apprehend them.
Shehbaz expressed condolences to the victims’ families and prayed for the injured official’s recovery. He said the federal government would continue fighting terrorism until it eradicated the threat.

The prime minister also said anti-state elements would not be allowed to disrupt Pakistan’s peace under any circumstances, according to Radio Pakistan.
Pakistan Customs said Jawad Ahmed would receive a burial with full state honours. The Excise Department separately handled funeral arrangements for Sajid-ul-Islam.
