The Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Sindh, has issued a Sindh dust-thunderstorm alert for the upper districts on May 2 and 3 due to a westerly wave approaching the region.
Director General PDMA Salman Shah said the weather system was expected to reach Sindh on Saturday evening. It could generate strong winds in upper Sindh.
PDMA warned that strong winds may affect electricity poles, billboards and solar panels during the alert period.
The authority also said temperatures were likely to drop, bringing relief from the extreme heat affecting parts of Sindh.
PDMA advised growers to protect their crops and directed district administrations to remain alert amid expected weather activity.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department said a fresh westerly wave was expected to approach northwestern Pakistan on Saturday evening. Moreover, it will persist over the upper regions until May 5.

In Karachi, Sindh, the maximum temperature was expected to rise to 39 degrees Celsius over the weekend, Chief Meteorologist Ameer Hyder said.
The same weather system is forecast to bring dust-thunderstorms and rain across large parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There will also be isolated heavy falls and hailstorms.
