Islamabad: A court in Islamabad on Friday remanded Pakistan’s software firm Axact’s Chairman Shoaib Sheikh and other accused in the fake degree scandal case for seven days.
The accused were produced before the Civil Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar where the defence counsel Rizwan Abbasi argued that Federal Investigation Agency has combed everything but failed to find any evidence against Shoaib Sheikh.
He also said that no authority has declared the degrees of Axact fake adding that his client has already completed his remand in Karachi so there is no need of sending him on remand in Islamabad as FIA has already investigated his client in Karachi.
Prosecution lawyer said that FIA needs to investigate the accused over the charges of fake degrees, fake companies and money laundering. He pleaded the court for 14 days remand of the accused.
The court remanded the accused for seven days ordering FIA to produce them again on July 3.
A District and Sessions Judge South on Wednesday allowed the transfer of Pakistan’s software company Axact’s Chairman Shoaib Sheikh to Islamabad for further investigation pertaining to the fake degree scandal.
The court also granted permission to move other accused in the case to Islamabad as well.
Hearing the plea of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the court allowed to move Shoaib Sheikh, Waqas Atiq, Muhammad Sabir, Zeeshan Ahmed and Zeeshan Anwar to Islamabad for 15 days for further investigation in the case.
