Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat, replaced by Waqas Akram as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), was also ousted from the party’s political committee.
According to sources, Marwat’s harsh criticism of his colleagues today led to his expulsion from PTI’s WhatsApp group. The party is considering further disciplinary actions for his controversial remarks.
PTI founder Imran Khan, currently detained in Adiala Jail, expressed disappointment with Marwat’s irresponsible actions and declined a meeting. Marwat’s statements implicating Saudi Arabia in the PTI government’s downfall and his interaction with Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reportedly fueled Khan’s displeasure.
Marwat alleged that his attempt to meet Khan was thwarted by fellow party members Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub, who colluded with the jail administration. His access was denied despite the jail superintendent’s assurance of a separate meeting.
Marwat lamented that his contributions to PTI were being undermined, referencing a complaint from the party’s social media team. He recounted his appointment to the political committee by Barrister Gohar and noted his brother’s abrupt removal from the KP cabinet. Announcing his protest, Marwat declared he would only resume work upon direct assignment from the PTI founder.
