On Thursday, Salman Akram Raja resigned as Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) amid mounting criticism of the party’s leadership following the Islamabad protest. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed he received Raja’s resignation.
PTI faced intense scrutiny after its workers retreated from D-Chowk in Islamabad without securing the release of party founder Imran Khan.
The party is currently in disarray after authorities arrested hundreds of its members during a significant operation against PTI protesters in the capital. Sources indicate that Raja’s resignation may lead to further departures from the party leadership.

Notably, Imran Khan appointed Salman Akram Raja as the new secretary general in September.
Additionally, the PTI’s political committee in Islamabad recently met to discuss the fallout from the protest. They deliberated on legal actions concerning alleged fatalities linked to the protest events.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur declared that PTI would persist with sit-ins across Pakistan despite the ongoing crackdown in Islamabad. At a press conference in Mansehra, Gandapur emphasized that PTI has consistently advocated for peaceful protests that respect the rule of law and democratic principles.
