Lahore, Punjab: Punjab free transport will end across the province from Saturday, June 13, 2026. Passengers will be required to buy tickets again, the provincial government announced Friday.
The restored fare requirement applies to the Orange Line Train, Metro Bus, Speedo Bus and Green Electric Bus services. The previous fare structure will return from June 13.
The Punjab government had introduced the free-travel facility as part of a relief package after rising fuel prices and global economic uncertainty. The uncertainty was linked to the Iran conflict. The facility was initially announced for one month. Later, it was extended.

Official figures said nearly 800,000 passengers benefited daily from the initiative. About 290,000 commuters used the Orange Line Train each day. Meanwhile, more than 100,000 passengers travelled free on the Metro Bus service.
The original package covered major public transport systems, including the Orange Line, Metro Bus, Speedo buses and Green Electric Buses. This coverage began when the scheme was launched in April.
The relief package also included support for farmers and motorcyclists. Farmers were offered a diesel subsidy of Rs 100 per litre per acre. In addition, registered motorcycle owners received Rs100 on up to 20 litres of fuel.
