PESHAWAR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Peshawar women’s open court addressed public-service complaints from women in Tehsil Chamkani on Thursday, August 6.

The district administration organized the forum to hear grievances and direct departments toward timely action. The Associated Press of Pakistan, said Deputy Commissioner Peshawar retired Captain Sanaullah Khan ordered the Khuli Katchery.

The forum included representatives from health, education, revenue, social welfare and the Tehsil Municipal Administration. Assistant Commissioner Sadar also attended.

Women reported problems involving schools, healthcare, sanitation, drainage, power outages and access to government services.

They also raised concerns about women-specific basic facilities and submitted suggestions for improving local services. Officials resolved several complaints during the Peshawar women’s open court, according to the APP report.

They directed relevant officers to act immediately on matters requiring departmental intervention. Unresolved cases were assigned to departments with stipulated timelines and instructions for regular follow-up.

The report did not specify the number of complaints received or resolved. It also provided no individual deadlines or names of affected neighbourhoods.

The assistant commissioner said the administration was taking measures to resolve public problems. He described women’s feedback and participation as essential to responsive, people-friendly governance.

He said women’s issues would receive priority and promised more targeted open courts. No schedule or venue was announced for the next women’s forum.

Participants welcomed direct access to officials and expected the initiative to improve complaint handling, APP said.

The Chamkani session followed another district open court at Government Primary School Mewra in Tehsil Shah Alam.

The forum took place July 31 under Sanaullah Khan’s direction. Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Ilyas chaired the Mewra session with departmental officers and local representatives.

Residents there raised complaints about health, education, sanitation, electricity, gas and revenue matters.

Officials also ordered time-bound action and follow-up on unresolved issues. The latest Peshawar women’s open court focused specifically on barriers affecting women across essential local services.
