MIAMI: Monterrey beat Inter Miami 2-1 after Diego Rossi scored a 90th-minute winner at Nu Stadium on Saturday, completing a second-half comeback in the 2026 Leagues Cup.
Ricardo Chávez delivered a cross into the penalty area before Rossi converted from close range. The official Leagues Cup recap named the Uruguayan midfielder Man of the Match.
Rodrigo De Paul gave Inter Miami the lead in the 32nd minute. He collected Casemiro’s pass outside the area and fired a low shot inside the left post.
De Paul then removed his No. 7 shirt to reveal Lionel Messi’s No. 10 underneath. Referee Bryan López booked him for removing the shirt.
Hugo Cuypers equalised two minutes after halftime. Rossi’s header forced a save before Cuypers converted the rebound for his second goal of the tournament.
Messi missed the match after returning to Argentina following the death of his father, Jorge Messi, earlier Saturday. His return date remains unknown, according to the Associated Press.
