Lahore, Punjab, the Punjab budget 2026-27 proposes a Rs752 billion development budget. This amount is down from Rs1.45 trillion. It comes ahead of its presentation later today.
The proposed Annual Development Programme includes 3,560 projects. Of these, Rs493.25 billion is for ongoing schemes and Rs258.75 billion is for new projects, according to the budget proposals.
For ongoing schemes, Rs353.84 billion would come from local resources and Rs139.40 billion from foreign funding. For new schemes, Rs254 billion would come from local sources, while Rs4.68 billion would be provided through foreign assistance.
The health sector includes Rs20 billion for the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital in Lahore. The government has also proposed a Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan. This hospital has an estimated total cost of Rs15 billion and Rs800 million for FY2026-27.
The proposals include Rs15.69 billion for the Chief Minister’s Laptop Programme. Additionally, Rs2.47 billion is for the Kisan Card Programme and Rs6.75 billion for its second phase. Another Rs1 billion has been proposed for Phase-II of the Livestock Card Programme.
Youth and welfare allocations include Rs300 million for the Parwaaz Card International Placement Programme. Furthermore, Rs610 million is for Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics and Rs590 million for the Chief Minister’s Self-Reliance Programme.

In education, Rs9.5 billion has been proposed for the Nawaz Sharif Engineering University in Kasur. Of this, Rs20 million is earmarked for the next fiscal year. Autism schools at the divisional level are estimated to cost Rs4.5 billion. For FY2026-27, Rs1.9 billion is proposed for these schools.
The budget also includes sports projects in Kasur, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Lahore. The Maryam Nawaz Sports City project in Lahore is estimated to cost Rs50 billion. For the next fiscal year, Rs110 million is proposed for this project.
A Rs169 billion Nawaz Sharif Medical District project has been prepared for Lahore. It includes an initial allocation of Rs2 billion proposed for FY2026-27. The provincial budget is scheduled for presentation later today.
