PTI chief Imran Khan Friday assured the Supreme Court of Pakistan that his party would not support any extra-constitutional steps against democracy.
A five-member bench of the apex court is hearing a petition regarding possible unconstitutional steps in the wake of current political situation.
Khan, through his counsel Hamid Khan, submitted a written reply to the court saying that the sit-in by his party in front of the Parliament House is lawful and according to articles 4, 9, 15, 16 and 17 of the constitution of Pakistan.
PTI chief has assured the court that his party workers will remain peaceful as they believe in the supremacy of the law.
It is pertinent to note that that Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Dr. Tahir-ul, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, who have been leading protestors in Islamabad since August 14, were served notices by the apex court on Wednesday to appear before the court and explain their anti-government protests.
A five-member larger bench comprising Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and Justice Mushir Alam is hearing the case.
