Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will address the nation at 7:00 PM on Thursday.

According to sources, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will take the nation into confidence over the judicial commission report on rigging allegations in the 2013 general elections.

The prime minister is expected to congratulate the nation on the decision of the inquiry commission. Sources add that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will also invite Imran Khan to work together for strengthening democracy.

The three-member judicial commission headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk in its detailed report sent to the Ministry of Law on Wednesday rejected all the three allegations of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on rigging in the 2013 general elections.

The three main allegations of the PTI included organised rigging in the 2013 general elections, non-transparent polling and theft of the public mandate. The report said there were irregularities to the extent of the Election Commission but they did not constitute a reflection of a deviation from the public mandate.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is meeting legal experts and advisers after receiving a report by the judicial commission.

The consultative meeting was called to mull over legal and constitutional aspects raised in the commission’s detailed report. The meeting is also being attended by federal ministers.
