Omar Ayub, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, has criticized the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, accusing him of being a puppet for the government.
During a media talk outside the Islamabad High Court, Ayub expressed his disappointment over suspending the notification that had initially approved a PTI rally, questioning the influence behind the Deputy Commissioner’s decision.
Ayub also mentioned that PTI’s political committee will meet today to determine the next steps, emphasizing the party’s determination not to retreat. He reiterated his criticism of the Deputy Commissioner, accusing him of favouring government directives.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated that the country and PTI supporters are highly anticipating the rally. He explained that they approached the High Court to ensure the rally would proceed legally. However, the hearing could not held today due to the absence of judges.
He noted that despite the court’s directive to the Deputy Commissioner to issue the rally notification, it was inappropriately suspended. Khan argued that any document justifying the suspension should have been presented to the High Court.
Additionally, PTI leader Shoaib Shahin declared that organizing a rally is their fundamental right and that they will go ahead with their plans. He noted that although the administration had initially authorized a rally in Rawat and subsequently in Tarnol after a petition, they abruptly suspended the notification. Shahin highlighted that a large crowd had gathered at the rally site, ready for the event.
