Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Norway signed a Piorun air defence deal on August 24 to jointly buy several thousand systems worth about 8 billion zlotys ($2 billion).
The four countries signed the framework agreement at the MESKO S.A. plant in Skarżysko-Kamienna, Poland, according to RMF24.
The purchase will be financed through the European SAFE programme; more than 80% of the Piorun man-portable air defence systems will go to Poland.
Lithuania, Latvia and Norway will receive the remaining systems under the joint procurement arrangement, according to the report.
Polish manufacturer MESKO S.A. produces the Piorun system, a shoulder-launched short-range air defence weapon designed for use against low-flying aerial targets.

The framework agreement sets the terms for the planned purchase, while a separate executive contract is expected to be signed within two weeks, according to RMF24.
