ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s SCO commitment during a meeting with Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev on Wednesday.
The Foreign Office said both sides discussed SCO priorities. They also reviewed cooperation in the economy, transport and connectivity. Yermekbayev briefed Dar on preparations for the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The Foreign Office said Yermekbayev praised Pakistan’s role in regional peace, stability and cooperation. Dar said Pakistan would work closely with all member states.
Pakistan will assume the chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State in September. The country will also host the SCO summit in 2027.

The SCO began in 2001 as a security cooperation group. It later expanded into a forum for trade, economic development and regional connectivity.
The bloc has 10 member states, including Pakistan, China, Russia, India and Iran. Afghanistan and Mongolia hold observer status.
