Pakistani politician and journalist Mushahid Hussain Syed called for the release of “Qaidi Number 804″(Referring to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s founder Imran Khan), anticipating international demands for action, potentially from figures like Donald Trump, should he return to office in the upcoming U.S. elections.
In a recent interview with Urdu News, Hussain advocated for the broader release of all political prisoners, including Imran Khan, to preempt external pressures.
Hussain also discussed comments from former caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar regarding the authenticity of current parliamentarians’ mandates, which he described as “fake.” He suggested that these allegations reflect a deeper legitimacy crisis within the current government.
Reflecting on the elections held on February 8th, Hussain noted that his party, the PML-N, suffered a notable defeat in what had been a stronghold, signalling a significant shift in voter sentiment. He acknowledged that this loss represented more than a mere setback; it demonstrated a fundamental erosion of their political base in Punjab, which he characterized as a “total obliteration” of their three-decade dominance.
These remarks highlight a critical examination of Pakistan’s political dynamics, where Hussain contrasts established power structures with emerging public forces and key figures like prisoner number 804.
