Motorola Solutions agreed to buy D-Fend Solutions for USD 1.5 billion, adding counter-drone technology to its public safety and security portfolio.
Motorola Solutions said the deal should close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
D-Fend develops technology that detects rogue drones, overrides their communications and redirects them to the ground. Motorola said the systems serve government, public safety and enterprise customers.
“Rogue drones have transformed our skies into a landscape of unpredictable risk,” Motorola Solutions Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Greg Brown said in a statement.
The deal follows Motorola Solutions’ USD 4.4 billion acquisition of Silvus Technologies in 2025. Silvus provides secure communications and networking for drones and unmanned systems.
Motorola Solutions said D-Fend has recorded annual revenue growth of more than 50% over the past three years. It expects D-Fend to generate USD 185 million in full-year 2026 revenue.

Research firm Mordor Intelligence valued the anti-drone market at USD 2.47 billion in 2026. It projected the market could reach USD 8.42 billion by 2031.
D-Fend Chief Executive Officer Zohar Halachmi said Motorola’s public safety and enterprise customer base would help the company expand.
