Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced 460 scholarships for students from Balochistan for the 2025-26 academic year, extending educational support beyond Punjab and widening access to higher education for deserving students.
The initiative aims to promote equal educational opportunities in Balochistan, where students often face more limited access to higher education than their counterparts in larger provinces. Through this move, the Punjab government has positioned the programme as part of a broader effort to support youth empowerment and encourage a more inclusive future.
Authorities are inviting applications through the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF). Officials said the scholarship programme primarily targets low-income, deserving students, with the goal of ensuring fair access to higher education and helping more young people continue their academic journey.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti welcomed the initiative and thanked Maryam Nawaz for extending support to students in the province. He described the scholarships as a positive example of inter-provincial cooperation and said the move could contribute to both social progress and educational development.
Bugti also stressed that education remains a basic right for every citizen. He said the Balochistan government will continue reforms in the education sector, including upgrading schools, improving infrastructure, and reducing disparities in remote areas to create more equal learning opportunities.
