Marcus Smart has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Houston Rockets, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
Charania said the contract includes a player option for the second season. Smart finalised the deal on Wednesday, July 1, after the NBA free-agency period opened on June 30, 2026.
The move reunites Smart with Houston head coach Ime Udoka. The Rockets are expected to use the former NBA Defensive Player of the Year as a key backcourt option.
Smart entered free agency after declining his $5.4 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers. His Lakers stay lasted one season.
Smart averaged 9.3 points, three assists and 2.8 rebounds in 28.5 minutes per game across 62 appearances for Los Angeles. He started most of those games.

He averaged 2.4 steals per game in the 2026 playoffs, ranking third among all postseason players
