Karachi, Sindh, remained under a Karachi heatwave alert, with temperatures reaching 40°C and the feel-like temperature rising to 46°C, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.
Officials said high humidity made conditions feel hotter than the recorded temperature, increasing discomfort across the city.
The Met Office said slow-moving sea breezes were adding to the hot, humid weather in Karachi. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority issued a heatwave alert and advised authorities to take remedial measures to reduce the impact of extreme heat.
K-Electric said it had suspended shutdowns during the heatwave and was working to maintain the electricity supply as demand increased.
K-Electric spokesperson Imran Rana said the utility was ready to ensure a sustainable electricity supply to Karachi and had placed field teams on alert to swiftly restore faults.
