Islamabad police arrested Lieutenant General (retired) Amjad Shuaib early Monday morning on suspicion of inciting the populace against national institutions.
According to sources, police from the Ramna police station arrested him at his residence in the federal capital.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed yesterday evening at the Ramna police station against the former army officer following his television interview. The FIR with file number 150 was filed with Magistrate Awais Khan as the complainant.
The FIR was filed using sections 153A and 505 of the Pakistani Penal Code, according to police sources. Per FIR, Shuaib incited a revolt against institutions during his television interview. The police are currently in the station’s cell. The police will present him to a local court this morning and request his detention.
After making allegations regarding a meeting between the Pakistani prime minister and an Israeli delegation, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had previously called the former military officer on September 7th, but he refused to appear.
Amjad Shuaib stated that Prime Minister met with an Israeli delegation during the prime minister’s visit to a Gulf state.
