KARACHI, Sindh: The KSE-100 Index Friday session rose 446.44 points, or 0.25%, to 177,769.21 before Pakistan Stock Exchange trading paused for the customary Jummah prayer break.

According to PSX data captured around midday, the benchmark touched an intraday high of 177,833.12 and a low of 177,165.27. The previous close stood at 177,322.77.

First-session turnover reached 98.50 million shares, with a trading value of PKR 7.48 billion, according to the exchange data.

The PSX board showed the market as suspended under its regular Friday timetable, with the morning session ending at noon before trading resumes after prayers.

Friday’s gain followed a near-flat close on Thursday, when the KSE-100 lost 47.93 points, or 0.03%, to finish at 177,322.78.

The previous session had opened higher amid weaker oil prices and expectations of progress in US-Iran talks, before late selling following corporate results erased most of the gains.

During Friday’s first session, the benchmark remained above Thursday’s close for most of the morning and entered the prayer break just below the 177,800 level.

The second Friday trading session is underway from around 2:32 pm to 4:30 pm.
