KARACHI: The KSE-100 Index on Friday rose 575 points, or 0.33%, to close at 177,167 on Friday, August 21, as value buying supported selected power and refinery stocks.
According to the market report, trading volume reached 677 million shares, while total turnover stood at Rs35.5 billion. The HUBC attracted buyers after falling nearly 14% from its August 10 high of Rs 227.9.
At around Rs200, the stock offered an anticipated dividend yield of nearly 10%, while its diversified portfolio also supported investor interest.
Meanwhile, refinery stocks advanced on reports that an agreement could be signed within the next 10 days. PRL and CNERGY both hit their 10% upper limits. CNERGY led the market in volume, with 250 million shares traded.
On the corporate side, ENGROH reported second-quarter 2026 earnings per share of Rs7.45, down 70% year-on-year and 7% from the previous quarter.

OGDC, HUBC, ATRL, SRVI, PPL, MARI, CNERGY, LUCK, FATIMA and PSO collectively added 672 points to the benchmark.

Despite Friday’s rebound, the KSE-100 ended the week down 2,938 points, or 1.63%, at 177,167. The index traded between 181,159 and 176,111 during the week amid profit-taking and geopolitical uncertainty.
