Geneva, Switzerland: Iran-US working groups were agreed after technical talks in Switzerland concluded on Tuesday, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported.
IRNA quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi as saying four groups would cover sanctions termination, nuclear affairs, reconstruction and economic development, and monitoring and implementation.
Gharibabadi led Iran’s technical negotiating team during the four-way talks. The working groups will operate under a high-level political committee overseeing the US-Iran diplomatic process.
Gharibabadi said future negotiations would include Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, US Vice President JD Vance, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani of Qatar.
The talks followed a high-level committee meeting on the implementation of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding. Anadolu reported that Iran said the negotiations covered the future framework, working groups and implementation mechanisms for the Islamabad memorandum.
The diplomatic track aims to reach a final agreement within 60 days. The Sanctions Termination group will work on sanctions-related arrangements.
