Actor Joel Edgerton returned in “Dark Matter” Season 2 on Friday, August 28, as Apple TV launched the next chapter of Blake Crouch’s multiverse sci-fi drama worldwide.
Jennifer Connelly also returned as Daniela Dessen alongside Edgerton’s Jason Dessen. Apple said the 10-episode season will release one new episode every Friday through October 30.
Season 2 follows Jason, Daniela, and their son Charlie, played by Oakes Fegley, after their escape through the Box at the end of the first season. According to Apple, the family initially finds a seemingly safe reality before new events force them to flee again.
Meanwhile, Alice Braga returns as Amanda, while Jimmi Simpson plays Ryan. Amanda Brugel and Dayo Okeniyi also reprise their roles as Blair and Leighton.
The new storyline follows Amanda and Ryan as they try to return home, while Leighton pursues plans involving the multiverse.

Crouch, who wrote the 2016 novel that inspired the series, remains creator and showrunner. Edgerton and Connelly also serve as executive producers.
The Daily Beast published its Season 2 review on August 28 and praised the show’s expanding multiverse story and the performances of Edgerton and Connelly.

However, the review also noted that the growing number of alternate characters makes the plot increasingly complex.
Apple premiered the first season of “Dark Matter” in 2024. Season 2 moves beyond the central story of Crouch’s original novel and continues the characters’ journeys across alternate realities.
