The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour begins today in the Caribbean, starting in Barbados, and will also host the final on June 29.
From April 12 to 20, the trophy will travel through Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana.
The tour’s international phase started in the USA, where cricketers Ali Khan and Chris Gayle spotlighted the event by illuminating the Empire State Building. It’s now the Caribbean’s turn to host the trophy across six venues, offering fans a chance to engage directly with this celebrated cricket symbol.
The tour will feature cultural events, street parties, and community engagements. Cricket stars like Daren Sammy and DJ Chiki are set to join the celebrations.
Key Trophy stops include:
- Barbados (April 13): Events start at 10 a.m. and circulate through Bridgetown, with cultural exhibitions on Broad Street, a street party on Rihanna Drive, and a conclusion in Oistins.
- Antigua and Barbuda (April 18): From 3 p.m., a cultural parade will animate St. John’s streets from Historic Redcliffe Quay to Antigua Recreation Ground, featuring DJ Chiki, Cricket Knights, Burning Flames, and others.
- Saint Lucia (April 20): Daren Sammy leads a caravan through communities, ending at Constitution Park from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for additional festivities.
The tour also focuses on inspiring young cricketers by visiting schools and showcasing cricket in various communities and beaches.
Organizers encourage fans of all ages to participate in the events leading to the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies and USA.
