An FIR was registered against unidentified persons on Thursday after three kgs of heroin was seized. It was being smuggled concealed in the toilets of a Pakistan International Airline aircraft and was detected at the airport in Karachi.
The FIR said that Pakistan Customs had received prior information about some narcotics being smuggled through the Dubai-bound PIA flight (PK-211). When the plane that flew from Islamabad made a technical landing at the Jinnah International Airport, customs staffers searched the aircraft with the help of sniffer dogs. The search led to the recovery of six packets of heroin from dustbins in two toilets. The off-white powder was tested through the narcotics test kit that confirmed that it was heroin.
The contraband was confiscated and a case was registered but the culprits were yet to be ascertained through investigations are underway..
