Islamabad: The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has advised Pakistanis travelling to Europe that the EU Entry/Exit System will begin in October 2026.
The bureau said the European Union’s new system will digitally record the entry and exit of non-European travellers in EU member states, replacing traditional passport stamping in many cases.
Under the mechanism, authorities may require travellers entering EU countries to provide biometric details, including fingerprints and facial data, during immigration procedures.
The advisory said the new screening process could increase waiting times at airports and border checkpoints, especially during the early implementation phase.
The bureau urged Pakistani citizens planning travel to Europe to prepare for additional checks and possible delays at EU borders.
Officials also advised travellers to ensure all required documents are complete and up to date before departure to avoid complications at immigration.
The bureau said the European Union introduced the system as part of wider efforts to strengthen border security and maintain a more organised digital record of visitors entering member countries.
