In a bid to curb crime and terrorism related violence, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a project to provide digital arms licences.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak inaugurated the project at the home and tribal affairs department here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khattak expressed the hope that the computerised arms licences would help check corruption and use of fake licences.
“Now the people instead of waiting for months will receive arms’ licences in a few days, while sale and purchase of both arms and cartridges will also be simplified and legalised.
According to him “now a police constable through mobile SMS could check the licence of any person anywhere.”
