MASSACHUSETTS, United States: The Lindsay Clancy case remains with prosecutors after a mistrial, as her defence lawyer said he hopes both sides can reach an agreement.
Attorney Kevin Reddington told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that he was willing to discuss a resolution with Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz. Prosecutors have not announced whether they will seek another trial.
Clancy is accused of killing her three children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, at the family’s Massachusetts home in January 2023.
She does not deny killing the children. However, her defence argued that she was experiencing psychosis and had not planned the killings. Prosecutors argued that she acted intentionally.
The 12-member jury considered verdicts ranging from first-degree murder to manslaughter and not guilty by reason of insanity.
Reddington said one juror prevented the panel from reaching an acquittal. Jury foreperson Roni Carlson later told NBC10 Boston that the holdout had acknowledged reasonable doubt but still would not agree to an insanity acquittal.

Reddington also appealed publicly to President Donald Trump for a pardon. Because Clancy faces state charges, however, the Massachusetts governor holds pardon authority. Clancy remains held at a psychiatric hospital. A status hearing is scheduled for September 29.
