Authorities have ordered a suspension of mobile internet in AJK from 11:30 pm. This comes ahead of a June 9 shutdown and wheel-jam strike called by the Joint Awami Action Committee.
The services are expected to remain suspended until June 12. This follows talks between the AJK government and JAAC that ended without a breakthrough.
JAAC leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir told the media that negotiations failed after government representatives asked the committee to withdraw its protest call. He said the committee rejected the demand.
The committee has maintained its call for a region-wide shutdown across Azad Jammu Kashmir. The planned strike follows tensions over unresolved demands.
Authorities said the suspension of mobile phone and internet services was ordered to maintain law and order. They also wanted to prevent unrest during the protest activity.

The June 9 strike follows earlier public warnings from the AJK and federal governments, which had urged JAAC leaders to avoid the protest and continue talks. In May 2026, JAAC had said the strike would proceed if its demands remained unmet by May 31
