LAHORE, Punjab: Heavy rain in Lahore, accompanied by strong winds, swept across several neighbourhoods on Sunday, July 12, with Farrukhabad recording 18.2mm, according to the meteorological department.
Rain fell in Nishtar Town, Johar Town, Gulberg, Lawrence Road, Mazang, Mall Road, Lakshmi Chowk and Nabha Road.
Saggian received 17.4mm of rain, while Tajpura recorded 14.6mm. Pani Wala Tala in Lahore’s Walled City received 12.4mm.
Lahore Commissioner Nauman Yousaf directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) teams to remain in the field.
He ordered assistant commissioners to supervise drainage operations in their respective tehsils. Officials were also told to keep major roads and underpasses clear.
The commissioner placed the Central Business District and Ravi Urban Development Authority teams on high alert. He directed disposal stations in areas facing power outages to switch to generators immediately.
WASA town directors were instructed to monitor pumping stations and keep them fully operational.
The National Highways and Motorway Police reported rain on the M-2 Motorway between Kot Momin and Thokar Niaz Baig. Rain also continued on the Lahore–Sialkot Motorway between the main toll plaza and Sambrial.

Cloudy conditions persisted on the M-3 Motorway between Faizpur and Nankana Sahib.
Motorway Police urged drivers to reduce speed, maintain a safe distance and avoid sudden braking or unnecessary overtaking on slippery roads. Motorists were advised to check their headlights and windscreen wipers, and to call the helpline 130 during an emergency.
