England’s quarter-final against Norway at the 2026 FIFA World Cup faces a weather risk in Miami, with AccuWeather warning of possible thunderstorms near kick-off at Hard Rock Stadium.
Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man England squad will face Norway on Saturday, July 11, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
Norway forward Erling Haaland is expected to be England’s main on-field threat. Several Norwegian players also feature in England’s Premier League.
AccuWeather senior meteorologist Chad Merrill told The Sun Sport that hailstorms were “likely” around Hard Rock Stadium near kick-off time.
Merrill said Miami’s sea-breeze pattern often brings afternoon showers and thunderstorms from the Atlantic during this part of the year.
He said the storms could bring lightning and brief heavy downpours. South Florida had also faced extreme heat warnings on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures peaking in the mid-30s Celsius.
