OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Work on Thursday, adding a workplace agent that can execute tasks across applications, files and workflows, the company said.
OpenAI said ChatGPT Work runs on GPT-5.6 and can create finished documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports and websites. The company said the tool can gather context from connected apps and work files.
The launch expands OpenAI’s push into agentic AI for professional users. OpenAI’s existing business pages describe workspace agents as tools that automate multi-step workflows across Slack, Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint and other enterprise systems.

OpenAI previously offered Operator and deep research before consolidating agentic tools for individual users into ChatGPT Agent. It also offers workspace agents for enterprise workflow automation.
The release follows rival Anthropic’s enterprise push with Claude Cowork, an agent designed to plan and execute multi-step tasks. Microsoft, an OpenAI backer, has also expanded its agentic AI offering with Copilot Cowork.
