LOS ANGELES: Antoinette Bower dies at 93 after a nearly 40-year screen career that included roles in “Star Trek,” “The Twilight Zone”, and “Prom Night.”

The actress died on April 30 at a retirement home in the Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles, her longtime friend Carlotta Glackin confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

News of her death became public on Saturday, July 11. The cause of death had not been disclosed.

Bower remained best known to science-fiction fans for playing Sylvia in the 1967 “Star Trek” episode “Catspaw.” Her character first appeared as a mysterious woman before transforming into a giant catlike alien.

She also played Eve Norda in “The Twilight Zone” episode “Probe 7, Over and Out.”

Her other television credits included “Mission: Impossible,” “Columbo,” “Bonanza,” “Hawaii Five-O” and “Murder, She Wrote.”

Bower appeared in the 1980 horror film “Prom Night,” which starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielsen. She also acted in “The Evil That Men Do” with Charles Bronson.

Born in Baden-Baden, Germany, in 1932, Bower later moved to Canada, where she worked in radio and television before building her Hollywood career.

She stepped away from acting in the early 1990s after appearing as Fox Devlin in the Canadian drama “Neon Rider” for three seasons.

Glackin said Bower continued receiving fan mail from “Star Trek” viewers for decades. She also said William Shatner sent condolences after learning of Bower’s death.

A celebration of Bower’s life is planned for September 26 in Pasadena, California.
