TEHRAN, Iran: Iran will continue coordinating diplomacy and defence efforts to protect national interests, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told lawmakers.

State news agency IRNA reported that Araghchi made the remarks during a meeting of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission. He highlighted cooperation between the Foreign Ministry and the parliamentary commission.

The foreign minister also briefed lawmakers on Iran’s agreement with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz. He also discussed ongoing negotiations and mediation efforts.

Separately, he addressed relations with neighboring countries, bilateral projects and economic diplomacy as part of Iran’s wider foreign-policy agenda.

During the parliamentary briefing, Araghchi praised Iran’s armed forces and paid tribute to people killed in recent fighting.

IRNA said he specifically referred to casualties at a wedding ceremony in Sirik. He also mentioned members of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force.

Iran FM Araghchi held a telephone call with Japan FM. In the call, Araghchi told the Japanese foreign minister:
