The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet approved the KP Health Policy 2026 on Wednesday, expanding Sehat Card OPD services and launching school health services across the province.
The provincial government said the policy will introduce digital reforms in healthcare. It also approved a wider digital monitoring system and full activation of the Healthcare Commission.
The cabinet approved stronger basic health centres, maternal and child care services, and the Lady Health Workers program. It also cleared plans for new Intensive Care Units, Critical Care Units, and burn centres across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Under the policy, the government will promote telemedicine, palliative care, and geriatric medicine. It also approved measures to address shortages of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff.
The policy includes measures to ensure a regular supply of medicines and vaccines. It also strengthens disease surveillance and adds clean water, sanitation, nutrition, and climate change to the province’s health framework.

The cabinet also approved the Occupational Safety and Health Rules 2026. Under the rules, institutions with 50 workers must appoint safety and health officers, while those with more than 100 employees must deploy fully competent officers.
The rules require institutions to provide protective training, first aid, and emergency response arrangements. The cabinet also approved an extension of Sifat Ghayoor Shaheed Memorial Hospital to increase local medical facilities.
