Islamabad: At least 20 people were killed and dozens injured in a road accident in Turnol near Islamabad on Wednesday, police and rescue officials said.

“A bus collided with a van killing 20, including women and children,” a police official said.

“Majority of the passengers in the van and the bus driver were killed,” the official added.

The injured were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS). Officials fear the death toll is likely to rise as the condition of injured passengers is critical.

Earlier last month, a passenger wagon collided with a truck in Mastung District’s Khad Kucha area, leaving 12 dead and about eight others injured.

According to SHO Mastung Nazir Ahmed,  the passenger wagon was on its way from Mangochar to Quetta when it collided with Mazda truck, killing the driver on the spot.
