Pakistan’s fielding mishap against Bangladesh and Umpire Richard Kettle Borough’s Reaction goes viral.
The Pakistan cricket team faced another fielding debacle on Saturday when Saud Shakeel missed an easy catch during the second Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. The team had been dismissed for 274 runs in their first innings earlier. Shakeel failed to secure a catch when Mir Hamza bowled a delivery that Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam edged toward the fifth slip.
The moment of the missed catch, highlighting a significant lapse, caused visible disappointment in Captain Shan Masood’s expression. Commentators labelled it a ‘regulation catch’, underscoring its simplicity. Umpire Richard Kettleborough’s surprised reaction to the missed opportunity also became a highlight, quickly spreading across social media platforms.
In the match context, Bangladesh’s off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz excelled, claiming five wickets to dismantle Pakistan for 274 by the end of the second day. Mehidy, achieving his 10th five-wicket haul in Tests, contributed significantly to Bangladesh’s strong position, aiming for only their third away series victory.

Despite the early drop by Shakeel, Bangladesh closed the day at 10-0. Mehidy’s pivotal performance included dismissing Pakistan captain Shan Masood for 57 and opener Saim Ayub for 58, after Pakistan looked steady at 99-1 at lunch. Taskin Ahmed supported well, taking 3-57.
