Aspiring UFC fighter Hrishikesh Koloth died after a rare bear attack at a remote uranium site in northern Saskatchewan, Canada, on May 8.
CBC reported that the 27-year-old was working as a contract technician at the site when the bear mauled him.
Koloth had moved to Canada from India three years ago to pursue mixed martial arts. His brother told CBC that fighting in the UFC was his dream.
“That was his dream. That’s why he came here. He wanted to fight in the UFC,” his brother said.
Koloth trained at Skoden Martial Arts and held an amateur MMA record of 1-3. He was also described as having a 3-0 rookie record.
Friends and training partners remembered him as a dedicated athlete who worked long hours at the exploration site while continuing to improve his fighting skills.
