LONDON: The Babar Azam injury update improved Pakistan’s hopes of his return after Umar Gul said Tuesday that the batter completed a full net session at Lord’s.
Pakistan’s bowling coach said Babar faced fast bowlers and also practised against throw-downs ahead of the second Test against England. The match will run from August 27 to 31 at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
Earlier Tuesday, Lord’s shared a video on its official X account showing Babar batting in the indoor nets with a member of Pakistan’s coaching staff.
Babar missed the first Test in Leeds because of a hand injury. He suffered the injury during Pakistan’s three-day practice match against the Professional County Club Select XI in Beckenham.
Pacer Manny Lumsden struck Babar on the finger during Pakistan’s first innings. The batter received medical attention and left the field after making five runs from 17 balls.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) later said its medical team advised Babar to sit out the remainder of the practice match as a precaution. The injury marked the second time within a month that Babar had taken a blow to the hand.
Pakistan trail the three-match Test series after England won the opening match at Headingley by an innings inside three days.
