ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, South Asia: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani arrived on August 20 for Syria-Pakistan talks on bilateral ties and regional developments.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, invited Al-Shaibani to the official visit. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said a senior Middle East official received the Syrian minister on arrival.
A high-level delegation accompanied him. Both sides will review political and bilateral cooperation during the visit.
They will also discuss regional and international developments. The Foreign Office said the visit could help deepen Pakistan-Syria relations and expand cooperation.
The visit followed Pakistan’s August 19 condemnation of a reported Israeli strike on Abu al-Duhur Airbase in Idlib, Syria.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan supported Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Syria accused Israel of striking the military airfield earlier in the week.

Israel has carried out military operations in Syria since the December 2024 fall of Bashar al-Assad. Syrian and Israeli officials have held direct talks despite continuing tensions.
