Islamabad: Strawberry Moon Islamabad viewing is expected Monday night as June’s full moon rises low near the horizon before reaching peak illumination early Tuesday.
Astronomy sources said the full moon will peak at 23:57 UTC on June 29. That converts to 4:57 am PKT on Tuesday, June 30.
The moon will rise near sunset and move along a shallow southern arc. Viewers should choose open or elevated places with clear southeastern and southern views.
Despite its name, the Strawberry Moon does not turn pink or red. Timeanddate says the name comes from wild strawberries that ripen in early summer.
However, the moon may appear orange or golden near the horizon. That colour comes from atmospheric scattering, which filters shorter blue wavelengths.
In Islamabad, the uploaded viewing guide recommended Daman-e-Koh and Margalla Hills viewpoints for elevated sightlines. It also cited Rawal Lake and Shakarparian National Park as open viewing areas.

Skywatchers using smartphones should turn off flash and night mode. The guide advised users to lock focus on the moon and reduce exposure to preserve surface detail.
Manual camera users can try ISO 50 to 100 and a shutter speed of 1/125 to 1/250 second. A tripod or fixed support can reduce blur. The next full moon, commonly known as the Buck Moon, will occur in July.
