Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said Friday in Peshawar that Sohail Afridi, the chief minister, will continue as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, rejecting social media reports about his removal.
Gohar said Afridi had been nominated for the post by incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan and enjoyed the complete support of the party leadership. Moreover, party leaders reaffirmed their backing for Sohail Afridi, the chief minister, in every meeting.
The PTI chairman said Afridi was performing effectively in office and that his performance reflected positively on the party’s governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Clearly, Sohail Afridi chief minister has had a strong impact on provincial affairs.
He called the removal claims baseless and described them as part of a failed campaign against the chief minister.
“Those running a campaign against Sohail Afridi will face disappointment and failure,” Gohar said. In short, the party remains united behind Sohail Afridi, the chief minister.

Gohar also dismissed claims of internal divisions, saying there was no forward bloc within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and that Afridi could not be disqualified.
The statement came after Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan criticised PTI leaders, including the chairman and secretary general, over the party’s protest movement, Imran Khan’s health and the postponement of an April 9 public meeting.
PTI Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja also rejected reports of internal rifts and defended the rally postponement as a strategic decision to avoid interference with international diplomatic activities.
Raja said Imran Khan had conveyed the decision to delay the event through his counsel, Salman Safdar.
