MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has capped each candidate’s campaign spending at Rs5 million under the AJK election code for the July 27 Legislative Assembly polls.
Under the rules, candidates must submit detailed expenditure statements after the results are announced. Money spent by another person on a candidate’s behalf will count towards the same limit.
The code bars candidates from bribing or offering favours to rivals to secure their withdrawal. It also prohibits candidates from seeking campaign support from government or semi-government officials.
Candidates cannot join any agreement intended to prevent women or transgender voters from casting ballots. They must also cooperate with election staff or face action under the applicable election law.
The rules prohibit speeches or conduct that insult Kashmir, Pakistan, the judiciary or the armed forces.

Candidates must not target the chief election commissioner or other commission members. The code also bars language that incites violence during campaigning.
Chief Election Commissioner Justice ( Retd ) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal announced the election schedule in Muzaffarabad. The commission has scheduled uninterrupted polling from 8 am to 5 pm on July 27.
