Karachi: The Sindh High Court has once again issued orders for supermodel Ayyan’s name to be removed from the Exit Control List (ECL).
The court gave its verdict after the conclusion of a hearing pertaining to Ayyan’s petition for contempt of court. The supermodel had filed a petition for contempt of court after her name had not been expunged from the ECL, despite Sindh High Court’s clear orders to do so.
Sindh High Court has granted the federal government a total of seven days to file an appeal against the decision. Ayyan had moved court against FIA and the Interior Ministry for not excluding her name from the ECL. The model had tried to leave the country after an earlier order from the SHC to the relevant authorities to remove her name from ECL, but she was stopped at Karachi airport.
Ayyan had been arrested from the Benazir International Airport in Islamabad in March of last year after more than USD 500,000 were found from her luggage. The model was about to board a Dubai-bound flight when she was arrested. On charges of money laundering and currency smuggling, the supermodel was sent to Adiala Jail for four months. She was ultimately granted bail and released from jail.
