Colombian pop star Shakira teased her official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, titled “Dai Dai,” featuring Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy. The artist will release the full track on May 14, 2026.
The 49-year-old shared a 67-second teaser on Instagram, filmed at Brazil’s Maracanã Stadium, showing her dancing with a diverse group of performers in colours representing participating nations. “Dai Dai,” an Italian phrase meaning “Come on, come on,” blends Latin-pop with Afrobeats rhythms.
This marks Shakira’s fourth major FIFA World Cup musical contribution. “First, she performed a remix of ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ at the 2006 Germany closing ceremony.
Later, she released the record-breaking official anthem ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’ for the 2010 tournament in South Africa. Finally, she performed ‘La La La (Brazil 2014)’ at the 2014 tournament closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.”
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place across the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, featuring an expanded 48-team format. Colombia has qualified for the tournament, giving Shakira’s home country fans extra reason to celebrate.
The collaboration with Burna Boy adds an African musical influence to the anthem, reflecting the tournament’s global nature and the growing popularity of Afrobeats internationally. “Unsurprisingly, early fan reactions to the teaser have been positive, as anticipation remains high following the success of her previous anthems.”
